I am excited for this course, and I am taking it to help in my degree for accounting. After reading chapters 1 and 2 I quickly realized there is so much more to management to learn. There are so many details that I didn’t know existed like the functions, principals, competencies, challenges and roles that managers need to understand to be successful. Management is so much more about building strong teams and doing things for the company rather than oneself. Lots of people view the manager position as a dictator like position but in reality, it’s more about motivating and empowering your subordinates and building rapport. I like how chapter 2 goes into depth on the history behind management because learning the history of a subject helps you truly understand it through decades of trial and error. I am ready to learn more in week 2 and read chapters 3 and 4.
